Join us for 40 days of faithful action for God's creation.
There's a climate crisis confronting our world, and we need to act like it!
As people of faith, we have a unique and critical role to play in the race to mitigate climate change and its impacts on the poor and vulnerable.
Beyond practical action, we need to inspire people with hope and courage for the future and show them God’s love for all creation through the witness of our lives.
We need to shift resources to the vulnerable and help them build resilience to climate change. We need to ensure a just and sustainable transition to renewable energies. We need to repent of the sins of greed and envy that keep us collecting and thoughtlessly discarding more and more stuff. We need to turn away from our sense of pride that sets humans above the rest of creation and reconsider our consumption and lifestyle choices.
And we need to follow Jesus into the wilderness of uncertainty about the future of our communities and our planet. To pray. To attune our hearts to love. To open our eyes to see what God is doing through our neighbours and church partners across the world.
And join in.
There's so much each of us can do.
Lent Event is 40 days of faithful, intentional and creative action to make positive change in our lives and in the world around us. And when we do it together as a community, our actions combine and become the transformation of our world that we all want to see.

Frequently asked questions
What's the story behind Lent Event?
Since 2009, UnitingWorld's Lent Event has invited Australian Christians to a deeper understanding of global poverty and injustice, highlighting the imperative for the Church to work in partnership with our global neighbours to seek justice and share resources.
Through Lent Event, Christians across Australia have generously shared their time, prayers and resources to support life-changing sustainable development projects in the Pacific, Asia and Africa. It's help shift millions of dollars to where it's really needed and impacted thousands of lives.
Along the way, we've reflected on the life of Jesus and the transformation we can see in our lives, communities and our world when we follow his footsteps in love and compassion for all creation.

Where does the money I fundraise or donate go?
Since Lent Event started in 2009, people like you have helped raise more than $7 million to support the work of UnitingWorld, partnering with churches in the Pacific, Asia and Afica on sustainable community development projects.
The money you help us raise will go towards critical climate action through life-changing projects run by our dedicated local partners in the Pacific and Asia.
These are some of the ways you can help make a difference:
- $20 can help our partners plant trees to stabilise landslide-prone areas and offset carbon.
- $90 can help a family grow their own food garden, cutting down on food miles, improving heath and building resilience.
- $250 can help resource a village to take action on poverty, health care and the environment.
- $1,000 can help protect whole communities in the Pacific by stocking evacuation centres, securing water sources, and providing life-saving education.
Where can I find resources?
Resources for 2024 include a video series that can be played during worship services for the 4 Sundays of Lent, daily reflections, and practical resources to inspire faithful action for the climate by individuals and churches.
As they become available, they will be added to the Resources Page. Bible studies and videos from previous years are available there too.
